Obituary For Mr. Gregory Bernard Landers

Gregory Bernard Landers was born in the US Army Hospital, Fort Gordon, GA on May 16, 1964 to Mary W. Landers and the late Hugh Landers. He was baptized at an early age and served faithfully at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church as a member of the choir, board of trustees, and a youth mentor.

Greg was educated in the Columbia County School System where he attended Grovetown Elementary School, Columbia Junior High and Harlem High School (Class of 1983). He continued his education at Paine College in Augusta where he studied Biology and later attended Meharry Medical School Biomedical Sciences Program. Greg’s love for music and photography showcased his creativity and ultimately inspired his business venture called “Positive Images”. A man of many talents including woodwork, carpentry, and upholstery. He had culinary skills which was evident with his prize-winning barbeque sauce.

Greg medically retired from Savanah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) after 29 years of service as a RadCon Technician / Industrial Hygienist. He was a perfectionist not only in his profession but also in his interaction with family, friends and others. His greatest happiness was found during family celebrations and gatherings. One of Greg’s favorite scriptures was John 16:33; These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. He often used these words “Be of good cheer” during his hails and farewells.

On May 22, 2021, Greg passed away peacefully at Augusta University Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his father Hugh Landers, his brother Nigel Landers. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: His Mother: Mary W. Landers, His Brothers: Christopher L. (Rosie) Landers, Leroy Landers and Dexter (Charlene) Taylor. Nieces: Zoe Landers, Jeneca (Lucius) Lord-Robinson. Nephews: Marcillan Thomas, Octavius (Joi) Murray, Christopher A. Landers.
