In Loving Memory of My Dad, While growing up I can recall my dad being gentle towards me. If I did anything wrong he did not spank me, instead he pretended to discipline me. I remember one Christmas I waited for Santa Claus as most kids at 5 years old would do. The next morning I saw several wrapped gifts, but it was the wooden toys under the Christmas tree that caught my eye. My dad told me they were from Santa Claus. Of course I totally believed him as it made sense that Santa would bring me wooden toys, not the plastic colorful ones. As I grew older I would call dad to tell him what was going on in my life. I remember telling him I had graduated and received my engineering degree. He was proud of me. Then I called him when I got engaged and again when I got married to my high school sweetheart and he was once again proud of me. My husband and I came to visit him when we were pregnant with our first child and he thanked my husband for taking care of his little girl, me, Nelsenia. We came back to visit when our first son was born, and then, we had planned to visit him this summer of 2021, so that he can see how much his grandsons had grown. You know life moves fast and you have to take the time to tell people you love them. When I told my dad I moved to South America, he was the only person that I knew who had traveled there too. My dad was an intelligent man who like many of us wished he could undo some things from his past. I'm happy I had a chance to tell my daddy that I loved him many times over. My dad, Nelson G. Wallace, had 5 children (three girls and two boys) and 11 grandchildren (7 girls and 4 boys). We love you. May you rest in peace.
