Levi Green

Levi Green, son of the late Nathaniel Green and Addie Green, was born on May 2, 1943 in Little River, South Carolina. He departed this stage of life at the age of seventy-eight years old on Monday May 17, 2021 at 11:15am at his home in Durham, North Carolina.

Levi attended Denmark Trade College where he studied to be a tailor. He moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina after finishing college in 1967, where he was mentored by a life-long friend Calbert Carlton. In 1969, Levi and Patricia were joined in holy matrimony. Their marriage blessed them with three children (Sandra, Steven and Tony) whom they raised in Durham, North Carolina and attended Northeast Baptist Church.

Levi was not a member of a church but was baptized at World Overcomers Church located in Durham, NC on August 19, 2009. He has a attended various churches throughout his life including St. Joseph Missionary Baptist Church, Northeast Baptist Church, World Overcomers Church, and Mount Cavalry Church.

Levi was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a caring person who would lend a helping hand to all who crossed his path, whether it was through his service or financially (Matthew 25:31-46). He always took the mentally that he was blessed to be a blessing. Levi was also one who tried to be a peace-maker when there was a dispute (Matthew 5:9)

Throughout his life Levi continued his career as a tailor and eventually ventured out to open his own business as the owner, Levi’s Tailor Shop in 1990. Levi always had a very stringent work ethic and for decades he stated that he would work until he dies. On December 31, 2020, Levi decided to close his business. Levi is survived by his wife of fifty-one (51) years, Patricia, and they were blessed with three children Sandra (Ron) Lewis, Steven Green (Valarie) and Tony Green. He has five grandchildren (Jessica, Michelle, Maxine, Steven, and Tony). His surviving siblings are Pauline Green, Freddy Lee (Ernestine) Green, Eva Lee Butler, and Jeremiah (Theresa) Green, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and a wealth of friends.
