Obituary For Dorothy Hardin Thompson

Ms. Dorothy May Hardin Thompson was born December 15, 1923 and completed her life’s journey on Wednesday; May 26, 2021 at Caromont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, North Carolina.

She was a resident of Union City, New Jersey for more than fifty years. During that time, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Consequently, mastering a long term tenure with Christ Hospital, Jersey City, New Jersey which anchored her career path. She married a clinical physician: Dr. Earl Thompson, who preceded her in death. She created designer hats by Dorothy and co-owned a shop on Main Street in Gastonia where her hats were in demand. As a mothering auntie to a host of her great nieces and nephews, she was a spark of tenacity.

She was preceded in death by her mother: Lavlette Hardin and her father: Ernest Hardin.

She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories to her beloved sister: Vera Feaster; nieces: Maxine Adams and Garnell Feaster of Gastonia, North Carolina and Antonia Bartholomew (Edward) of Las Vegas, Nevada and nephew: Bradley Feaster (Janice) of Gastonia, North Carolina and other relatives.

A private memorial is being planned in Mid June.

Aunt Dorothy, as I reflect on the 98years of blessings that God allowed you to be with us, I can only say we were beyond blessed. You lived a life filled with excitement, laughter, joy, dancing and making all that encountered your atmosphere, smile. Though your transition has been difficult for our family, your legacy of giving and helping others will remain a constant and we will continue to carry the mantle that you have passed on to us!!!!
