Roosevelt served 2 years in the United States Army. He then married Rosa Dow Nelson, and they were united for over 60 years. They moved to High Point, NC in 1964. Roosevelt was a retired employee of Gilbarco after 37 years of service. He touched and made a difference in the lives of many.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Rosa Dow Nelson of the home; one son, Roosevelt (Dianne) Nelson, Jr. of High Point, NC; two daughters, Wanda McClellan and Cindy Nelson of High Point, NC; four grandchildren, Bianica Nelson, Erica (Eurri) Davis, Victoria McClellan, all of High Point, NC, and Daniel Davis of Washington, DC; five great-grandchildren, Eniyah, Eli, Eurri Davis, Jr., Devhon and Azaria Nelson, all of High Point, NC; four sisters-in-law, Leola Dingle, Wilhelmina (John) Bosier, Lucretia Steele, Margie Williams; two brothers-in-law, Melvin (Lois) Dow and Sammie (Gwen) Dow; a devoted friend of many years, Dano Pressley; and a few others that called him PaPa: Kimery and Novia Moore; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 11:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Carolina Biblical Gardens. Mr. Nelson may be viewed on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
