Obituary For MR. EDDIE GRAHAM MELTON, SR.

EDDIE G. MELTON SR. was born June 6, 1934 to the late James and Rebecca Melton. He peacefully departed this life on May 16, 2021 at Atrium Health Hospice, Monroe, NC surrounded by his children. He attended the public schools of Anson County. Eddie worked at Edwards Wood Products in Marshville, NC for over 20 years. Later retiring from Edwards in September 2000. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined Galilee AME Zion Church where he served as a Trustee and Assistant Chairman. He loved his church family and keeping the grass cut. He also loved singing and formed a gospel quartet group called the “Troublesome Five.” His passion was visiting his family and working on tractors for those near and far. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cason Melton; nine brothers and six sisters. He leaves to cherish his memories: four sons, James (Lena Mae) Melton of Morven, NC, Alvin (Andrea) Melton of Columbia, SC,. Charles Melton of Morven, NC; Eddie (Andrea) Melton Jr. of Morven, NC and one daughter, Rosemary Melton of the home. A special nephew, Sylvester (Gloria) Sanders of Fayetteville, NC and a special niece, Cindy (John) Wiggins of Wadesboro, NC. Two sisters-in-law, Lucille Melton of Morven, NC and Annie Cason of Charlotte, NC. One brother-in-law, Sherman Hyatt of Columbia, SC. Ten grandchildren, James, Trai, Jarvis, Ayesha, DJ (Buckwheat), Curtis, Fantasia, Aliyah, Nivea, and General. Six great grands. A very special friend, Mr. T.C. Covington of Morven, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that he loved dearly.

The Homegoing Services will be on Saturday, May 22, 2021, 11:00am, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in the Melton Family Plot of Galilee AME Zion Church Cemetery, Morven, North Carolina.

The Melton Family will greet family and friends on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 10:30-11:00am at Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.

The public viewing for Mr. Melton will be on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 4:30-6:30pm at Smith's Memorial Chapel.

Smith's Funeral Directors require that a face mask/covering be worn upon entry and at all times while in the funeral home.
