Obituary For Mrs. Julia Greene Heggie

Julia Greene Heggie transitioned from this life on May 27, 2021. Her funeral will be held 12:00PM on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Woodard Funeral Home Chapel. Visitations will start 1hour prior to the service at the chapel.

She was born on June 7, 1947 in Philadelphia, Pa. to the union of the late Rev. William A. Greene, Sr. and the late Ngetsen Greene. Julia spent her early childhood years in Florida before the family moved to Mullins, SC in 1956. She graduated from Palmetto High School in 1965 where she developed her love for music playing the trumpet and singing in the Glee Club. Upon graduation, as valedictorian of her class, she attended Bennett College in Greensboro NC.

Julia accepted Jesus Christ while attending Mount Olive Baptist Church, Mullins SC. While living in Greensboro she joined St. Stephen United Church of Christ during the pastorate of Rev. Dr. George Gay. During her active membership at St. Stephen she was a Circle Member, a Girl Scout Leader, and a Choir Member.

Julia worked at Southern Bell as a long-distance operator and retired in 1999 as a central office repair technician supervisor. She lived in Greensboro for over 50 years and during that time she developed many close friendships and life-long friends.

Julia leaves to cherish her memories her devoted daughter, Allison Heggie Williams (Thomas), Coatesville, PA., her granddaughter, Alana Williams, brother, Rev. Dr. William A. Greene, Jr., (Barbara), Keyport, NJ, sister Liane Greene Montford (Tony), Albuquerque, NM, nieces and nephews Bryan, Craig, Michael, Andrea and Elliot and a host of friends.
