Hillard received his formal education through the Henry County Public School System. He retired from American of Martinsville after many years of service. He also retired from the Henry County Public Schools with about 40 years of service.
Hillard leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mamie Herford Moyer of the home; two daughters, Linda Moyer of Axton, VA, and Nora Moyer of Collinsville, VA; five sons, Christopher Moyer, Dwight Moyer, and Kenneth Moyer all of Axton, VA, Marvin Moyer of Atlanta, GA, and Ricky (Tamika) Moyer of Ridgeway, VA; three grandchildren, Alicia Winchester, Shawn Moyer, and Jorden Moyer; one great-grandchild, Kamron Graham; two brothers, Daniel (Lois) Moyer, and Sanford Moyer; one sister, Elizabeth Norman; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 12 noon at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home with Elder Barry Dillard, Eulogist. Burial will follow at the Moyer Family Cemetery, Axton, VA. A public viewing will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hairston Funeral Home. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required. The family will receive friends at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Tamika Moyer, 280 Roosevelt Dr., Ridgeway, VA24148.
