Obituary For Gladys Estelle Woody Jones

Gladys Woody-Jones was born on April 22, 1928 to the late George and Mary E. Woody in Person county.

Gladys exchanged this life for eternal rest on Wednesday, June 2, 2021.

She received her education in the Person County School system and was employed as a domestic and factory worker.

She retired due to poor health in 1975. Gladys and her late husband, Solomon moved to Durham, NC in March 2011.

She enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, going to church, listening to music, reading the Bible , playing cards and going to the sweepstakes.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Barbara Pettiford of Durham NC, three step daughters : Dorthy Griffin , Stephanie Jones , Darlene Stewart all from Baltimore MD and also two beloved grand children, Nick Pettiford and Margret Brown-Lee.

She was preceded in death by her husband Solomon Jones with one son Alfred Tally and eight siblings : Walter Woody, Cleo Woody, Christine Woody, Bernice Woody, Georgiana Woody, Gather Woody, Levi Woody and Adele McClain.

Graveside service will be held at Glennview Memorial Park, 2515 NC Hwy 55, Durham, NC on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 11:00 am.
