Obituary For Master Chief Donald "Ed" Adkins

Master Chief Donald "Ed" Adkins, of Rock Hill SC, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his son, and 4 daughters. Ed was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Coleman. His parents, Ernest and Dorothy Adkins. His wife of 44 years, Lois. He is survived by 4 daughters, Pamela Calhoun (Tommy), Michelle Gladstone (David), Suzette Mobley (Paul), Tammy Roberts (Shawn). And one son, Len Postlewait. Nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. His sisters, Linda Gibb (Harold), Paulette Nivens (Dwight). And his Brother, Jeff Adkins (Jona). His closest friends, Linda Edwards (Steve), and his "morning gang", at the "V". Ed was born in Bethune SC, but the family soon moved to Rock Hill. Ed joined the United States Navy in high school, and went to serve his country in the Vietnam War. He served his country for 22 years. Achieving the rank of Master Chief at a young age. He carried his love for his country far beyond his time in the military. He was very active with veterans organizations in, and around York County.

The family will receive friends at the home. There will be a graveside service at Grandview Hollis Lakes. With a Celebration of Life to follow at 732 W Main Street Rock Hill SC In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to "VFW Post 2889" 732 W Main Street Rock Hill SC 29730 As of printing, no day or time has been set.
