On Saturday, June 3, 2017, the Lord blessed Destinee K. Garrett with a baby girl she named Nivea Elise. Nivea was a very special blessing that required lots of love, extra care and a lot of personal attention once settling in at home in Alpine, Alabama.

In Nivea’s short four years of life, she mastered the art of displaying a beautiful smile, laughs that would tug on even the toughest of heart strings and gave hugs that would ooze love. She did not get a chance to attend school, but she did acquire lots of skills that would prove helpful in any future endeavor. Nivea was very inquisitive so she would have had a bright future as a detective. She began improving her skills in rolling and this particular talent could qualify her to be a fire safety educator. Nivea took interest in running her hands through your hair and pulling with great force which showed possible aspirations of being a cosmetologist specializing in braids and pressing with a straightening comb. You had better sit still while in her chair or she would make you comply. Nivea could have become an electrician since she was fascinated with things that light up or served the navy as a member of the ship’s crew since she had already began pulling on cords and strings like pulling in anchors. She could have been an entrepreneur and began her own paper shredding business or cleaning service since she enjoyed utilizing wipes.

On the evening of Saturday, June 5, 2021, the Lord decided that he had a position for Nivea in his company of Heaven. Orientation was facilitated by her sister, Santrease Davis; her great grandparents, Obie Garrett and Sarah Garrett; two great uncles, Danny Garrett and Michael Garrett; and a cousin, Matthew Virges.

Nivea leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Destinee K. Garrett of Alpine, Alabama; two brothers, Montavious Crowe and Elijah Carter of Lincoln, Alabama; grandparents, Thelma Garrett of Alpine, Alabama and Kenneth Smoot of Talladega, Alabama; an aunt, Deedra Curry of Talladega, Alabama; two uncles, Antwoine Johnson and Quartez Johnson of Eastaboga, Alabama; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends.
