On Saturday, June 5, at 11:46 AM, Louise Webster Joyce, peacefully transition to her heavenly home. PRAISE BE TO GOD! She is with the Lord. Louise was proud to share that she was a “Valentines Day Baby” that was born on February 14, 1942 to the late Freddie and Annie Z. Webster. She often shared stories of attending public schools in Rockingham and Stokes County, where she made many friends and developed a special bond. Growing up on a farm presented it’s challenges, but somehow her parents managed to rear her and 13 other siblings. Sharecropping was their source of income. She learned at an early age the value and ethics of what it meant to work. She knew that you had to work in order to survive and obtain anything of value. Her employment experiences included working at The Madison Throwing Plant, Macfield Texturing, and Culp Ticking where she eventually retired. Louise was a quiet, meek and humble person who simply loved. She loved to cook, entertain, and do word search puzzles. She was a member of Goodwill First Baptist Church, where she served on the hospitality and culinary committee. Her home was always a haven for a good meal, friendly conversation, and a good time while rocking on the carport. #Family Over Everything, it’s a popular phrase now, but she knew the importance of family at an early age. She was married to the late Sam Smith, Jr. and James M. Joyce. These unions brought about the joy in her life… her children, Denise, Darryl (Kim) and Marty (Tracy). She was proud of them and embedded much wisdom in their lives. God also blessed her with a godson Brian (Alex), who was near and dear to her heart. It’s always been a no-brainer, she was there for them and they were there for her. Her sons gifted her with two bonus daughters and they in return were instrumental in making her a grandmother or as they affectionately called her “Granny”: Kyler, Colton, Ethan, Octavia and Kennedy were loved unconditionally. All of her nieces, nephews, and cousins were precious to her and she spread love to them every chance that she could. She was preceded in death by siblings: John Oscar Webster (Betty), Frances Kellam (Ed), James Webster ( Betty), Fred Webster (Lula), Dewey Webster (Josephine), Sam Henry Webster, Floyd Webster, Birdie Searcy, Lillie Searcy and Emma Payne.

She leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Willie Cain Webster and two sisters, Mother Sallie Ruth Lowe and Loretta Dalton; five brothers-in-law: Reverend Robert Smith (Virginia M.), Bobby Joyce (Ann), Harden L Shelton Jr. (Bro), James Searcy and Buster Searcy; one uncle J.E. Johnson; four aunts: Alice Moore, Marie Hoover, Molene Johnson & Louise Noel, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

As we reflect upon the life of our dear beloved in her recent battle, know this, she was a mighty warrior, and she never complained. She didn’t give up, she slowly gave out. Philippians 4:8, Finally brotherin, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” We will miss you, BUT WE LET YOU GO!
