Mr. Jessie Jefferson was born on October 2, 1921 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Bennie and Viola-Whaley Jefferson. He was the 11th child of 13 siblings, who all have preceded him in death
He attended schools in the Worth County Public School System, and attended a local technical school in Albany Technically for Mechanics. Jessie served his country as a proud member of the United States Army and was a Private First Class during World War II.
He was married to Maggie Billingslea and later to Willie Dean Hamilton. They both preceded him in death.
Over his career, Jessie co-owned a dry-cleaning business, was a taxicab driver and owned a small store called ‘Major Road Grocery’. He was a school bus driver for Worth County Public Schools until he retired. .
Jessie enjoyed watching games shows and sports, as well as playing pool and checkers. He loved to read the newspaper (without his glasses).
Mr. Jessie Jefferson departed from this life of labor on June 8, 2021 at Pruitt Healthcare in Sylvester, Georgia.
He leaves to cherish his memories 5 daughters, Estelle (William) Allen, Betty Polk, Julia Rainey, all of Sylvester, Georgia, Valerie (Leevon) Thomas of Fort Pierce, Florida, Paula Young of Jacksonville, Florida; one beloved son, Donald (Symantha) Jefferson of Sylvester, Georgia’ 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends, including his caretakers, Annie Pearl Green, Lisa Smith, Veronica Mincy, and Victoria Ford.
