Mrs. Leatherwood was born March 6, 1953 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late JC and late Alma Wells. She was united in matrimony to Mr. Henry E. Leatherwood, whom she loved dearly. She is a graduate of Brainerd High School and Chattanooga State Community College.
At an early age, she confessed Christ and joined New Home Baptist Church where she was a devoted choir member and actively participated in the BTU (Baptist Training Unit). She continued to serve the Lord and later joined New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church after locating to Smiths Station, Alabama, where she severed as a Deaconate and on the Kitchen committee. She worked faithfully in the medical field for over 20 years until her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her parents, (JC and Alma Wells), son (Gary Fitch), sister (Virginia Adams), brother (JC (Bub) Wells), and nephew (Kelvin D. Pruitt).
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving husband, Henry E. Leatherwood of Smiths Station, AL; two sons, Patrick (Kimberly Bush) Wells of Chattanooga, TN; Tracy (Laura) Wade of Rossville, GA; three daughters, Kelly Wade of Salem, Alabama; Tracy (Joseph Pulido) of Jersey City, New Jersey; and Yamina Leatherwood of Chattanooga, TN; two brothers, Leroy Wells of Decatur, GA; Raymond (Jewel) Wells of Portland, TN; two sisters, Dorethea (Charles) Jones of Loganville, GA; and Cheryl Johnson of Douglasville, GA; one brother-in-law, Theopria Leatherwood of Smiths Station, AL; a special cousin, Jocelyn (Charles) Bryant; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
