Johnny Oden Gilliard was born November 19, 1956 to the late John Henry Gilliard and the late Lena Adams Gilliard in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday; June 9, 2021 in Gastonia, North Carolina at Brian Center.

“Pin Roy” as he was affectionately called, was educated in the Gaston County School System. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he earned a National Defense Service Metal and was a rifle sharpshooter. Johnny was a diehard Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He supported his family in all their endeavors and will be truly missed.

He leaves to cherish precious memories to his wife of thirty-six years: Vivian Gilliard; sons: Johnny Gilliard Jr. (Lakoya McClean) of Gastonia, North Carolina and John Dixon; daughter: Elizabeth Sharp of Gastonia, North Carolina; two stepchildren: Bonita Belk of Charlotte, NC and Pastor Troy Montgomery of Gastonia, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren; two brothers: Jeff Gilliard and Kevin Gilliard both of Gastonia, North Carolina; favorite cousin/brother: Mont Adams (Mattie) of Augustus, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing at the funeral home on Monday; June 14, 2021 from 5 until 8

Funeral: Tuesday; May 15, 2021 at Tabernacle Baptist Church at 12:30 p.m.

Visitation: thirty minutes before the service at the church

Interment: Thursday; 10:00 a.m.; June 17, 2021; Salisbury National Veterans Cemetery; 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury
