A Time To Be Born Richard Lee McBride “Kentucky”, son of the late Joseph McBride and Lucille Clark McBride was born October 1, 1937 in Sumter, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by one son, four brothers and two sisters.

A Time To Learn He received his formal education in the schools of Sumter County. He was employed by Georgia Pacific for thirty-three years. A Time To Love Richard was united in holy matrimony to the late Rosa Lee Blanding “Doolie” of Alcolu, South Carolina. Kentucky as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, was strong minded, worked very hard and enjoyed socializing with family and friends. He enjoyed singing, fishing, cooking and riding his bike. He loved worshipping and being involved in religious events with his church family. One of his greatest loves was singing gospel music, traveling to various churches and attending gospel programs. Richard was the Father of the Church, a member of the Adult Choir, Male Chorus, Lay Organization, Sons of Allen and he loved Sunday School.

A Time To Die On Friday, June 11, 2021 our Heavenly Father summoned His Servant, Richard Lee McBride to his everlasting Home.

A Time To Mourn He leaves to cherish his precious memories; four sons:, Ted (Stephanie) Blanding, Blythewood, SC, Timothy McBride, LaHabra, CA, Sam (Lekah) McBride, Honolulu, HI and Charles McBride, Fayetteville, NC; four daughters: Dorcus (Ronnie) Young, Columbia, SC, Shirley Garry, Salisbury, MD, Mary Blanding and Martha Fitchett both of Baltimore, MD; one brother, Louie (Sally) McBride, Sumter, SC; one sister, Susan (Joseph “JC) Scott, Sumter, SC; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

The family would like to thank and acknowledge everyone who was a part of Richard’s Life Journey. Special thanks to very special friends considered as his brothers and sister: Bill Nelson, William Harvin, Joe Servant and Elease Harvin. A very special nephew, Harry McBride and son-in-law, Lee Ernest Ramsey.

Funeral services for Mr. McBride will be held 11:00AM Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Reeseville AME Church, 7764 Sumter Hwy, Alcolu, SC. Rev. Emma Mellerson, Pastor, officiating; Rev. Marie Harvin, assisting. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.
