Nelson Rice

Nelson Ray Rice was born August 16, 1955 to Mrs. Lille P. Jeter and the late Mr. Emmanuel Rice, Sr. He was the husband of Patricia Thomas Rice. He was preceded in his life’s transition by: his eldest sister, Patricia Rice; his brother Emmanuel Rice, Jr.; his grandfather, Mr. Tim Jeter; and two brothers-in-law, Jerry Thomas and Tommy Ray Thomas. In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves to many, many memories to: his daughter, Aquita L. Rice of Spartanburg, SC; his son, Damien N. (Ivory) Rice of Boiling Springs, SC; his four beloved grandchildren “his 4 Z’s”, Zion T. Rice, Zamyah N. Rice, Zoey N. Rice and Zander N. Rice; two sisters, Carol Thomas of Buffalo, SC and Shirley (Melvin) Young of Union, SC; five brothers, Steven Rice of Seattle, WA, Larry (Patsy) Rice of Auburn, GA, Paul Rice of Buffalo, SC, Jeffery (Debra) Rice of Gaffney, SC and Anthony (Wanda) Rice of Columbia, SC;

his mother-in-law, Ms. Elizabeth Thomas; his brothers- in-law, Walter (Mary) Thomas and Aydrian (Saundra)

Thomas; his sisters-in-law, JoAnn Rice, Shirley Thomas, Barbara Thomas and Linda Rice; his nephews who he loved to entertain with his tales; his adored nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends. Nelson was a member of Wyatts Chapel Baptist Church. He was previously a member of St. Luke Baptist Church.

Mr. Rice was employed with Milliken for twenty- five years. He also worked for twenty years at various

manufacturing facilities. He enjoyed and often boasted about cooking BBQ. Nelson took on karate as one of his hobbies as a young man. Mr. Rice was the full gambit when it came to fish, he would catch, clean, cook and eat them. Nelson was a people-person who charmed everyone and left them wanting to be in his presence.

Services will be held Monday, June 14, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. at Wyatts Chapel Baptist Church, 153 Wyatts Chapel Rd., Buffalo, SC.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 14, 2021 from 4-8 pm at the John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel
