I just found out about his passing. We were both art majors at VCU, both fans of comics, science fiction, and humor so of course we bonded. After college we drifted apart, but still kept in touch. The last time I saw him was when he did me the honor of being my best man at my wedding. We always only called each other by our last names, he was Bates and I was Sater. Sorry we drifted apart, Bates. Be at peace, my friend.
