Obituary For Joyce Ann Bennett

Joyce Ann “Kitten” Bennett, daughter of the late Hezekiah Bennett and Mary Ann Filmore-Bennett was born September 2, 1963 in Clarendon County. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Theola Coullette and Daisy Frank and one brother, Danny Hezekiah Bennett.

She attended and graduated from Scott’s Branch High School, Summerton, South Carolina. After high school, she was employed at Blanch New England and Gold Kist. In recent years she worked as a caregiver.

Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was family oriented, loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed talking and making others laugh. No one who met her was a stranger. She was a very sweet person and always willing to help others in any way that she could.

Joyce was a devoted member of Open Fountain Church where she served as an Usher and on the planning committee. She also attended church at Deliverance Outreach Ministries and Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. On Friday, June 11, 2021, Joyce Ann “Kitten” Bennett departed this earthly life. She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Latasha (Roger) Williams of Manning, SC and Airel Bennett of Lexington, SC; two sisters, Deloris Holiday of Brooklyn, NY and Doretha Bennett of Manning, SC; four brothers: Thomas Frank and Simon Holiday both of Manning, SC, Joe Holiday of Columbia, SC and George Bennett of Manning, SC; three grandchildren; special friend, Bertie Blanding; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Bennett will be held 2:00PM Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Hayes F. Samuels, Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church Street, Manning, SC. Rev. Bobby McDonald, officiating; Reverend Dominique Grate and Reverend Zeigler, Assisting. Burial will follow in the Bethel AME Church Cemetery.

The family is receiving friends at her residence, 207 Sumter St., Manning, SC.
