In St. Clair County, Alabama, on Tuesday, December 4, 1951, Harrison Otis Curry and Mattie Carter Curry Finley welcomed a son, Benny Earl Curry, to their family.

Mr. Curry dedicated his life to serving in God’s kingdom. He joined Peace Missionary Baptist Church in June of 1995, and on the 5th day of November 1995, he was baptized at Peace by Reverend Billy Marshall. Benny moved his membership from Peace Missionary Baptist Church in October of 2001 to Belview Missionary Baptist Church. While at Belview, he joined the usher board and sang in the male chorus. Benny was ordained a deacon on the 5th day of August in the yar of our Lord 2009 at Belview Missionary Baptist Church by Pastor Timothy Earl Caldwell.

Benny was a graduate of St. Clair County High School. After completing his education, he used his talents in construction, rendering services to Haren Construction Company, Brice Construction Company, Brasfield & Gorrie General Contractors and lastly at Bufford Construction Company until his retirement in 2016. Since retirement, you could find him play Free Cell on his phone, dabbling in a little carpentry and maintaining his yard. On September 2, 1972, Benny took the hand of the former Shirley Kirksey in holy matrimony. And from this union that spanned almost 49 years, five children were born.

On the evening of Monday, June 14, 2021, the Lord called his servant, Benny Earl Curry, home. He was preceded on this path to eternity by his parents, Harrison Curry and Mattie Curry Finley; and a sister, Annie Joe Threatt.

Leaving to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife, Shirley Curry of Talladega, Alabama; five daughters, Tera La’Tunya Kirksey of Gadsden, Alabama, Shu’Wandra Dawn Curry of Talladega, Alabama, Trista Tamara Curry (Fredrick) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Tameka Diana Curry of Gadsden, Alabama and Kenya Nigeria Curry (Jose) of Talladega, Alabama; thirteen grandchildren, Kahnilia (Reggie) McLeod, Dawnametra Curry, Quendarious (Kristen) Curry, ShaRhonda Somalia Curry, Alexias Sierra Kirksey, Quindale Kirksey, Justus DIonne Reynolds, Quiara Raeon Davis, Quinsean Re’Trel Davis, Stefon Isayah Curry, Myracah Nevaeh Green, LaMarcus Douglas Green and Javier Carlo Ocasio; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Michael Curry of Riverside, Alabama; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
