Obituary For Ms. Gwendolyn Woods

Mrs. Gwendolyn Woods was born on April 30, 1949 to Mack and Chanie Dunklin in Mobile, Alabama. On Monday, June 14, 2021 the Lord decided to call his child home to be with him. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 37 years, John C. Woods. Mrs. Woods had a beautiful smile and an excellent spirit which electried all those who knew her. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a very humble and loving woman. She was soft spoken with a heart of gold and caring of all who she encountered. Mrs. Woods was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1967.She was employed at the Kodak Company, Rochester, New York ,where she worked for many years until her retirement. While living in Rochester New York, she was a member of the Aenon Missionary Baptist Church. In 2005, Gwendolyn and her loving husband, John C. Woods relocated to Mobile, Alabama where they united with the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, she faithfully served in the Inspirational Chorus and was a member of the Queen Esther Sunday School Class and the Missions Ministry. Mrs. Woods leaves to cherish her memories, her children; Chris(Randalynne) Miller, Pam (Carlton) Shivers; grandchildren, Leon Coles, Jada Shivers, Autumn (Ruben) Avila, Amber (Adolphus)Washington, Christopher Miller, John Miller, Hannah Miller, Janae Miller and Benjamin Miller; great grandchildren, Ruben Avila, Jaxon Avila, Penelope Avila and Jeremiah Washington; sisters, Rose King and Lois Kidd; brothers, Mack Dunklin and Archell Dunklin; goddaughters, Sharron Prowell and Glenda Rankins. Her dear friends at Friendship were Grace Wyatt and the late, Rev. Charles W. Porter. Many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Gwendolyn and her loving and beautiful smile will be dearly missed by the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church as well as the Aenon Missionary Baptist Church families. A Walk-Through Public viewing Friday, June 25, 2021 from 2:00 to 6:00pm. at Sam Jackson Mortuary, LTD. 271 Cody Road North, Mobile, Al and Private Funeral Service Saturday June 26, 2021 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church @ 11am with Rev .Dr Corey Brown, Officiating Minister. Interment will follow in Whispering Pines Cemetery.
