Obituary For Mrs. Dora Davis

Dora Mae Whitehead Davis, 81, of Greensboro NC, passed away on June 3rd, 2021 at Carolina Pines Nursing Facility after a lengthy illness. Her funeral will be held 1:00PM on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Woodard Funeral Home Chapel, with visitations starting at 12:00PM.

Dora Mae was born on August 11th, 1939 in Vance County, NC. She was one of 6 children born to Alice Cox Whitehead and Jasper Whitehead. Her siblings include twin sister Lola Mae Hines (John) of Greensboro NC, Sarah Rouse (Jesse) of LaGrange NC. Her brothers Warren Cox (Kent), Jasper Whitehead Jr. and Robert Whitehead all preceded her in death. Her only uncle, Virgil Cox (Vera) also preceded her in death.

Dora was married to the late Robert Lee Davis for over 30 years. To this union two children were born; Marty Davis of Tampa, FL and Cassandra Davis Johnson (Derrick) of Greensboro, NC. Her daughter, Betty Jean Gibson of Dayton, OH, was from a previous marriage. Her son Otis Whitehead and daughter Cynthia Ann Whitehead were also from previous relationships.

Dora was raised in LaGrange, NC and attended Frink High School. She was a homemaker for the majority of her adult life. She loved her children, family, friends and going to church. She didn't meet a stranger and will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.
