Obituary For Helen Adams

A celebration of life for Helen "Genny" Adams, 65, of Oxford, Alabama will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Maple Grove Cemetery with Father Gerald Holloway, Officiating.

Public viewing will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 1:00-5:00 PM at the chapel of Goodson Funeral Home. Genny was a devoted Catholic and faithful member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church.

She attended All Saints Roman Catholic School from first grade till eighth. In ninth grade Genny attended Cobb High School. She was a 4-H member and the leader of her group, which won first place in many of their competitions. After graduating high school, she went on to pursue her studies in nursing at University of Alabama at Birmingham. She became the first black female paramedic with the Anniston Emergency Rescue Squad. Helen is survived by: her husband, Kevin Adams; her loving sisters, Olivia (Clarence), Patricia (Lonnie), Regina (Dereck), and Verna Seals; all of her devoted and loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and her friends, of which she had many; her best friend, Jacqueline Waters, whom she'd known since childhood. She was preceded in death by: her mother, Gertrude A. Moody Seals; her father, Vernon H. Seals; her uncles, Aurthor Moody and Paul Moody; her aunt, Sarah Moody; nephew, Thomas "JJ" Stevens; first cousins, Roderick Seals and Pam Seals; and late husband, Kenneth "Rattlesnake" Evans.
