Obituary For Raymond Spencer Sr.

Raymond L. "Ray" Spencer, Sr., 73, of Reading St., Steelton transitioned into eternal life on Sunday, June 13, 2021 in the peace and love of his home. He was born in Harrisburg, son of the late Lindsay, Sr. and Annie Lee (Benton) Spencer, a 1966 graduate of Steelton-Highspire High School, a graduate of HACC, Penn State Univ. and the Pennsylvania Bankers Association of Banking at Bucknell Univ., a U. S. Army Veteran and a member of the New Hope Living Baptist Church. In 1971, Ray began his banking career at Commonwealth National Bank where he rose to the ranks of Manager and retired from Citizen's Bank. He was a community activist and volunteer having served the Harrisburg Parks Partnership, the Private Industry Council of the Susquehanna Employment and Training Corp., Tri-County Housing Development Corp., Dauphin County Library Board of Trustees, Steelton Borough Water Authority and the Steelton Kiwanis Club. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brother, Lindsay "Pedro" Spencer, Jr. and leaves to celebrate his life, his devoted wife of 54 years, Florence White Spencer; his four devoted children, Tracy Tribue, Raymond Lee Spencer, Jr., Jerone Lee Spencer and Jerett Lee Spencer; his 11 grandchildren; his four great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. His life will be celebrated on Monday, June 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of his Church, 395 South 2nd Street, with viewing 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
