Obituary For Mrs. Annie Doris Davis

“…for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.”

The world was seasoned with the birth of Mrs. Annie Doris Davis on October 27, 1937 in Cuthbert, Georgia. She was the second child of six (6) children of the late Mr. Wilson Scott, Sr. and the late Mrs. Hattie Sue Scott. After high school, she moved to Florida where she lived for four (4) years. She later returned to Cuthbert where she became reacquainted with her high school love and soul mate, Robert L. Davis. They later married on October 22, 1967. During this union Robert and Annie established a home and raised their four (4) children, Joseph, Michael, Carl and Anthony. Upon moving into their first home, Robert lovingly told Annie, “I love you, and I don’t plan on going anywhere?” She replied, “I love you too and I don’t plan on going anywhere either.” Robert replied, “Well, we’re going to roll with the punches, whatever they may be.” Annie and Robert rolled with the ups and downs and were married for 40 years until her untimely death.

Annie was a member of The Last Day Church of God, Inc. for 33 years, where she accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and a better understanding of the word of God. While there, she served on the Mother’s Board, Pastoral Support and she was an active usher until her illness. Her roles extended beyond the church, which included a tenure of 25 years at Avon Products. Prior to the passing of her mother, Mrs. Hattie Sue Scott, she took on another role as the matriarch and the spiritual backbone of the family. Anyone that was blessed to have known Mrs. Annie Davis can truly say that they have been touched by God’s Divine Love.

Mrs. Annie D. Davis departed this life on June 8, 2009 at 5:20am after a short battle with complications related to cancer. She leaves behind a loving and devoted husband, four (4) sons, Mr. Joseph Montgomery, Jr. (Elizabeth), Mr. Michael Montgomery, Mr. Carl Davis, and Mr. Anthony “Tony” Davis; two (2) brothers, Mr. Wilson Scott, Jr. (Amy) and Mr. Johnny Scott; one (1) grandson, Donte Montgomery and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

I am sorry to hear of your loss, please accept my deepest sympathy. When our loved ones die it is only natural that we want to be with them again. We have a hope that that will happen. The Bible teaches that many who have died will be resurrected. Jesus promised that "those in the memorial tombs will... come out." (John 5:28,29.) The resurrected ones will have the opportunity to live forever on a a paradise earth. (Luke 23:43) Aren't these wonderful thoughts? Can you imagine seeing you loved ones again on a paradise earth? I hope you find these thoughts comforting and they help you during these times.
