Obituary For Loriston Arnold Thompson

Mr. Loriston Arnold Thompson, of Stone Mountain, GA, passed February 13, 2013.

The funeral for Mr. Loriston A. Thompson, 94, of Stone Mountain will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 5365 Memorial Dr., Stone Mountain. The Rev. Ellynda Lipsey, pastor, will officiate. The body will lie in state one hour before the service. Interment Dawn Memorial Park. Loriston Thompson was a track and field stand out representing his native Jamaica in the 1936 Pan-American Games in Panama. He a was commercial printer and had worked for the Gleaner Company (Jamaica) and United Printing Service (New York). After retirement in Stone Mountain, he became active in the Hairston Lake Senior Community activities. Those who cherish his memory include daughters, Fay Blackwood, Maree Thompson, and Pansy Gordon; brothers, Leonard Thompson, Keith Thompson, Mose Thompson, and Lloyd Thompson; seventeen grandchildren and 20 great-grand children. Sons, Winston and Earl preceded him in death.
