Joyce Brown was the youngest of six children born to Charles and Henrietta Granton on December 6, 1924 in Carron Hall, Saint Mary, Jamaica, West Indies. After a long bout with alzheimer's disease and cancer, she departed on January 19, 2008 to join her husband, Noel Brown in heaven.

She was a woman ahead of her time. Joyce went to New York in 1946 where she met and married Noel on January 15, 1950. She was a pioneer and very instrumental in the development of the Palm Coast community.

Joyce is survied by three children, Madge, Noel and Patricia; grandchildren, Christopher, Anwar, Mikal, George, Samantha, and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Tariq Lemar, Mikal, Jasmine, Sakoya, Cameron, Alexia, Michael, and Malik.
