Obituary Reflections of Life: Lillie Belle Gathers daughter of the late Lauretta Hodge Jenkins and James Duncan “J.D.” Jenkins was born September 12, 1943 in Colleton County. She was the second of seven siblings; all siblings preceded her in death. She was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 26, 2012 in Fayetteville, Georgia. At an early age she joined Buckhead United Methodist Church. She was educated in the public schools of Colleton County, South Carolina. “Mutter” was a very loving and caring person, always willing to lend a helping hand in any way she could. She fought a good fight and has entered the peace of eternal slumber. The Bible leaves no doubt that there is life after death. To know her was to love her. She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Harry Gathers, Sr., to this union seven children were born, Harold Jenkins, James Jenkins (Shirley), Doretha Gathers (Ervin), all of Walterboro, SC; Gregory Gathers (Mary) of Charleston, SC, Dejoris Green (Gregory) of Rex, GA, Tina Gathers, Shanda Belton (James) of Fayetteville, GA; two special grandchildren of the home, Chela and Cheumalt Gathers; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; two devoted nieces, Christina Jenkins and Mary Logan; one adopted granddaughter, Jennifer Machuca; two aunts, Shirley Forbes and Margie Lucas; two adopted daughters, Jumesha Gibbs and Tanya Adam; three sisters-in-law, Daisey Gathers, Deloris Jenkins and Virginia Stephens; one brother-in-law, Jake Simmons; along with a host of step-children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
