Obituary For Mr. Jeffrey Dean Griffin

Mr. Jeffrey Dean Griffin was born on June 6, 1956 to the union of Willie Nash Griffin, Sr. and Mattie Ruth Lee Griffin. "Jeff," as he was affectionately known, is the ninth child and the "baby" of the family. He departed this life on December 11, 2011.

Jeff was born, raised and resided until his declinie in health, in "Reynoldstown", one of Atlanta, Georgia's historic and well-known neighborhoods. While in Reynoldstown, he was Christened into the Saint Philip AME Church family as a child. He began his education by attending and completing I.P. Reynolds Elementary School. From there, he continued his education at Sammy E. Coan Middle School and went on to complete his high school education at Roosevelt High School, presently Southside High School. While attending Roosevelt, Jeff became an all around athlete excelling in all f the major sports which included football, basketball and his most loved sport: baseball. During his attendance at Morris Brown College, Jeff's athleticism was noticed and he was asked to try out for professional baseball teams: The Atlanta Braves and The Cincinnati Reds. Jeff's athletic ability was not only limited to schools, he also became a well known bowler for the bowling league of Saint Philip AME Church.

Jeff's work experience awarded him positions. with Frito Lay, The State of Georgia and Sophie Mae's Candy Company.

Many people knew Jeff andJeff knew many people. Most of his close friends and family knew three major facts about Jeff. First, that he was an impeccable dresser. Secondly, that he had a strong resemblance to the recording artist Teddy Pendergrass, (so much so that in his younger years, the resemblance won him first prize in a local contest). Lastly, his love for his car, THE RED and BLACK REGAL, which looked as if it was spinnig in the middle of a show room floor!

Precede in death, son Quindarius Alexander, brothers, W.N. Griffin, Jr. and Lorenzo Griffin, nephews Printus Griffin and Darrell Roberts and niece Jamila A. Jones.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his siblings Neva (Jesse) Pressley, Ruth G. Roberts, Mylas Griffin, Miriam G. DeShazor, Clara G. Glaze, Valerie D. (Jonathan) Jones. Nieces and nephews: Feleicia, Dynton (Kathy), C. Kia, Reggie (Darlene), Anthony (Helen), Kiva, Antonia (Elaine), Marquise (Corrisa), Michelle (Cory), Malcolm (Michelle), Ishmael (Christie), Shakira, Hasani, Pedra (Wil), Jelani (Tasha) Jabara, Roderick (Tiffany); lifelong friends, Shedrick Harris, Sheryl Jones; several great nieces, great nephews and friends.
