Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery.

Mary Louise (Jackson) McLemore was born April, 25, 1943 in Sawyerville, Alabama to the late Annabelle and Bishop Isaiah Jackson. She was the fifth child from the loving union of her parents that produced seven boys and seven girls. Mary grew up in a loving home in Birmingham, Alabama where she received her early education. She eventually moved from Birmingham and ventured out on her own to live in the big city of New York City. She didn’t stay long because she loved her family dearly and moved to Seattle Washington to live and be with one of her sisters, Navoria I. Reese. It was there in Seattle that she met and married AC (Solomon) McLemore and raised one daughter Kimberly, who she affectionately called, ‘My Baby’. She was a devoted wife and mother and gave tirelessly of herself to her family and many others as a caregiver. She worked for years as a health food consultant and was instrumental in one of the popular local pharmacies introducing a line of natural remedies to their inventory, something unheard of back in the early 70’s. Her knowledge in alternative medicine increased tremendously and she was able to provide a natural remedy for any ailment and was respected by many in the Washington Metropolitan area for her expertise. Known to some by Maryum, she eventually became manager of a health food store right near the Nation’s Capitol and was loved by many of her customers establishing life long bonds and friendships with a few of them. During the course of her career as a caregiver, her travels led her to serve many in Tucson, AZ, Birmingham, AL and Highpoint, NC, where she lived with her sister Rebekah and worked for Hoover’s Funeral Home for 11 years. Mary loved the Lord and wherever she lived she made sure to unite and fellowship with a church family. While in Birmingham, she was a faithful member of The Bishop Isaiah Jackson Worship Center (Bishop A. Isaiah Jackson); while in Highpoint she was a faithful member of Higher Praise Apostolic Church (Bishop Michael Daniels). She later settled in Setauket, NY and continued to care for many others, even at the expense of her own health. Being part of a large, but very close knit family, her sisters persuaded her to travel home where she returned to Covington, GA. It was at the home of her sister Navoria Reese and brother-in-law, Bishop Stewart Reese, Jr., that the sisters rallied around her to provide the loving care she needed in her final days. Still, in spite of her illness, she was always trying to do for others and praised the Lord without fail all throughout her illness. She made Bethesda Cathedral in Decatur, GA. her church home under the leadership of Pastor Stewart Reese, III, and insisted on being baptized again to renew her relationship with the Lord. Mary was known for her outgoing personality, making friends with perfect strangers, speaking her mind and for working magic in the kitchen. She could make a meal fit for a king even from meager provisions leaving everyone licking their plates and fingers. She gave tirelessly of herself to others and had an amazingly huge heart. On Thursday morning February 23, 2012, the Lord called Mary home to rest in His kingdom, She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories, her daughter Kimberly Pumphrey, of Bowie, MD, five sisters, Navoria I. Reese (Bishop Stewart, Jr.) Covington, GA, Trustzetter Shaw (Dr. Richard), Decatur, G., Rebekah Hoover, Highpoint, NC, Grace Quinn (James) Las Vegas, NV, Ann Moon (Arthur), Fayetteville, GA; three brothers, Bishop A. Isaiah Jackson (Joan), Phillip Jackson (Earlene), both of Birmingham, AL, Timothy J. Jackson, Detroit, MI., one grandson Everett Pumphrey, and great grand-daughter Kaylen of Bowie, MD. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, saints and friends. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Annabelle and Bishop Isaiah Jackson, one sister, Faith Benion, four brothers, Joseph, David, Joel, and John Jackson; one grand-daughter Desariee` Pumphrey.

Dear Kim & family, You are in my thoughts and prayers. Maryum was a very dear friend to me. Although we had lost touch over the years, I thought of her often and wondered how she was and where she was. She helped me through some very difficult times in my life and I will always be grateful for her friendship. I will treasure my memories of her always. She was like a second mother to me. I know that I will see her again in Heaven. God's peace and love be with you all.
