Obituary For Deacon Willie Frank Turnipseed

Deacon Willie Frank Turnipseed passed October 4, 2013.

The Celebration of Life for Deacon Willie Turnipseed of Decatur will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 at New Hope Baptist Church of Atlanta, 236 Richardson St., S.W. Pastor James L. Fields, Jr. will officiate. Interment, Dawn Memorial Gardens.

Remains instate for viewing at 9:00am. Visitation at 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

A Time to Begin Willie Frank Turnipseed was the eldest of six children of James Frank Turnipseed and Addie Odessa Slaughter- Turnipseed. Willie was born on May 1, 1943.

A Time To Grow Willie began his career of 50 years as a construction engineer for Sheppard Construction Company and Miller Mathews Reality, where he was a faithful, honest and dependable employee as well as a good friend. During his career he married Barbara Ann Mayes and the couple lived in matrimonial bliss for over 40 years. The couple had one daughter.

A Time to Serve Willie joined New Hope Baptist Church of Atlanta where he served for over 40 years in many capacities. He was a faithful member. He served on the Usher Board and was a member of the Deacon Board. He was well respected and was a great friend to all. He was a caring neighbor and a help to all who needed him.

A Time to End Willie departed this life on October 4, 2013 to begin his new life on the other side with the Lord.

Those who will cherish his memory include: his wife, Barbara Mayes Turnipseed; daughter, Leslie M Smalls (eddie); sisters, Mildred Lucilleallen, Bernice Jackson, Katie Dixon, and Linda Turnipseed; brother, Luther Norris Turnipseed (Dora); uncle, James Turnipseed (Cassandra); sister-in-law, Carolyn M. McCuller; brother-in-law, Oscar J. Mayes, Jr; three grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, caring friends and neighbors, whose bonds of love transcend generations and endure the test of time.
