Obituary For Mrs. Bonnie E. Holmes

Bonnie Elizabeth Holmes was born in Indianapolis, IN on July 20, 1935. She was the younger of two children born to the late Dorothy Pringle. Raised in Detroit and Belleville, MI, she graduated from Belleville High School, Class of 1952. She married Jesse Holmes, Jr. (now deceased) in December of 1956. They would eventually welcome three children into this union.

Bonnie was employed by the Wayne County Juvenile Court in Michigan, retiring after 25 years of service. She was an excellent seamstress, always sewing crocheting, and quilting beautiful items for her family and friends. Bonnie also enjoyed bowling (she participated in many bowling tournaments), solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles, traveling, and was an avid reader. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and friend, always embracing and caring for others in need. She was also a faithful and supportive member of Stone Mountain First United Methodist Church upon her move to Atlanta after retirement. God tenderly called her home on January 2, 2017 after a long and well-lived life.

She leaves to celebrate her life and to cherish her memory: her son, Phillip (Linda) Holmes; daughters Phyllis (Roderick) Frierson and Rochelle (Anthony) Morton; three grandsons, Gregory, Aaron, and Evan; four granddaughters, Kimberly, Shalyce, Lauryn and Jenelle, her dear cousin Ruth Shobe, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

I had the honor of working with Bonnie at Juvenile Court. I loved her smile and her spirit. She was sweet and funny. I have several of her handmade scarfs. She is an angel in heaven now, as she was an angel on earth. Thank you Lord for having Bonnie and I cross paths. Prayers of peace for you and yours Bonnie. Thank you

My deepest sympathy in the loss of your dear loved one. When our loved ones fall asleep in death it grieves our heart. The Bible has beautiful and comforting words to help us cope with our loss. Psalm 147:3 says; He (God) heals the brokenhearted; He binds up their wounds. Revelation 21:4 expresses a wonderful hope for the future. It says: And he (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. May these scriptures provide comfort for you during this time of bereavement.

I would like to offer my condolences to the Holmes family and may God be a refuge and strength in your time of sorrow. (Psalms 46:1)

- P. Watts

I am very sorry for your loss. However, Almighty God has provided a guarantee of a resurrection to all people in His memory by resurrecting Jesus from the dead. (Psalm 83:18; Acts 17:31) We will be able to see our loved ones again on a restored earth. (Psalm 37:11, 29) May you trust in God to comfort you until that time. (Prov. 3:5, 6)

- P. Henderson

Life is such a precious gift from our God Jehovah (Psalms 83:18) and when that life is lost it brings such great sorrow. The Bible promises at Acts 24:14 "...there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and unrighteousness ." The Bible assures use that our love ones will live again when God allows Jesus to call them back to life to live on a paradise earth. Psalms 37:11 says "the meek will possess the earth and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace." The Bible guarantees a bright future for obedient mankind. Please put your hope in Gods promises.

Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your dear Ms. Holmes. May the "God of comfort and tender mercy" support the Holmes family during this difficult time. (2 Cor. 1:3,4) HE hates death and views it as an enemy. God promises to bring an end to pain, death, tears and sorrow in the very near future. (Rev. 21:3,4)
