Obituary For Mr. Oscar Emmanuel Branker

Mr. Oscar Emmanuel Branker was born October 2, 1915 to the late Mr. Timothy Nathaniel Branker and Mrs. Lillian Taylor Branker in Sugar Hill, St. Joseph, Barbados.

Oscar was an industrious young man. He managed his father’s store in Barbados for several years. On August 7, 1952 Oscar came to the United States where he opened his own small grocery store in New York City until he retired.

Oscar moved to Decatur, Georgia to live with his brother Leroy and his wife Virginia Branker. He enjoyed traveling. He traveled to various countries such as Guiana, England, Trinidad and many historical sites in the United States. He was a great cook and would always keep the house smelling very good. Oscar had a signature toast for all occasions. Wherever he went he was asked to purpose his famous toast. Oscar will truly be missed by everyone who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory, two sons, Mr. Mark (Opal) Tull and Mr. Jeffery Downs; one brother, Mr. Gordon Leroy (Virginia) Branker; one sister, Ms. Phyllis Wasser; nieces, Thelma McClean, Hazel Small, Yvonne (Denzil) Fearon, Jeanette Stevens; nephews, Aldin Sealy, Courtneay Small; a special daughter, Ms. Yvonne Johnson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
