Obituary For Mr. Lloyd Edward Mahone

Lloyd Edward "Skip" Mahone began this earthly journer June 14, 1950m, in Fayetteville, GA. He was the youngest of ten children born to the late Reverand Charlie and Pecola Mahone. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, Andrew and Alfonso; two sisters, Bertha and Johnnie Mae.

Lloyd finished his journey on this earth on August 20, 2009 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

Lloys's basic education was in the public schools of Fayetta and Clayton Counties. He was a very bright student and excelled in all his subjects. He went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree with honors in English from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. He taught at John F. Kennedy Middle School in Atlanta, GA for a short period of time. He decided that teaching was not his "calling"; so he later joined the pharmacy staff at Emory Hospital in Atlanta. There he found his "calling", and was employed there 35 years until his death. Lloyd accepted Christ as his Saviour at an early age, and was baptized as a member of Lamar-Johnson Methodist Church in Forest Park, GA. Later he became the Minister of Music, and remained there for several years. He later joined Flat Shoals United Methodist Church in Decatur, GA.

In 1991, Lloyd married Mary Odum. They were married for several years. Lloyd was a loving brother, uncle Godfather, cousin, mentor, and a very dear friend to his family, co-workers and many friends. He was the person who was called on to solve problems and offer support whenever someone needed answers, and/or support. He was morally strong, yet soft-spoken and meticulous in whtever he set out to do. He contributed to several charities; his favorites being Feed The Children, and Paralyzed Veterans of America. He loved taking relatives and friends on impromptu tours around the city to check out new homes in the area.

Lloyd leaves to cherish his memory, his two sisters, Irene Renée (Taylor) Colquitt of Fairfield, CA, Bettye Jean (Ronaly) Logan of Lithonia, GA; two brothers, Charlie (Betty) Mahone, Jr. of Athens, GA, and Bobby James (Stella) Mahone of Romulus, MI; his Godson, Tamba Libbie; his brother/friend, Wayne Westley; his mother/friend, Ethel Terrell; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Lloyd discovered early on that the secret to peace with God, is to accpet and appreciate God;s "perfect timing". He is at peace now as he has departed this mortal life and moved on to his new home in heaven with the Lord.

To Lloyd's Family, I send my deepest sympathy to you. I admired (Skip) very much, He was a man of integrity with a quiet spirit. Those are just a couple of reasons for choosing him as my son's God father. I appreciated him for all that he did to help cultivate and nurture Tamba's life. He also was there for my other son, Derrick when he was growing up. Skip will truly be missed but I know he is in God's hands now. Love to all the family.
