Obituary For Mrs. Jeanette Smith

Celebration of Life for Mrs. Catherine Jeanette Smith Tweed was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina on July 10, 1943 to the late Dan Smith and Thelma Brigman Smith. Jeanette Smith Tweed transitioned into the next life on October 12, 2009 after living on the streets of Atlanta, Georgia for several years. Jeanette attended Bennettsville High School in Bennettsville, South Carolina. Jeanette work in a nursing home caring for the elderly prior to coming to Atlanta. Jeanette loved the church and GodÂ’s people. She found safety in the shadows of the house of prayer where she bedded down at night. Jeanette was well known on the street of Southwest Atlanta. She would stand and talk with people from various backgrounds about her life on the street and how some people were just mean and lowdown. She volunteered at Mt. Moriah Baptist, where she helped fold clothes and distributed food. At the Russell building she would tap on the window to visit and talk to the employees there. At Central United Methodist Church she would engage the pastors and members in long conversation. Jeanette was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew here. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, David Eugene Tweed; two grandchildren, Brittney Tweed Quick, and Brandon Tweed; One great-grandchild, Easton Quick. One Sister, Louise Jacobs, and one Uncle, Carl Starnes. Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband Jack Tweed; parents, Dan and Thelma Smith; one sister, Beatrice Smith, three brothers, Billy Smith, Dan Smith, Jr., Edgar Frances Smith and four aunts and three uncles.
