Obituary For Mrs. Marilyn Marie Pruitt

Marilyn Marie Pruitt was born August 30, 1957, as the third child to the late Mary and Theron Sharp in Cleveland Ohio. Marilyn accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ at Charity Baptist church in Cleveland. She later joined Grace and True Love Baptist Church in East Cleveland, Ohio. Marilyn grew up in a loving home with her parents, two brothers, and three sisters. However, she could often be found down the street with her best friend/cousin, Cathy Lewis Spence "her road dog". She enjoyed reading, writing poems, and writing short stories. She made her mark within the neighborhood fighting, bike riding, roller skating, playing jacks, and taking walks. Additionally, she took great joy in "toughening up" her friends and siblings. Marilyn attended Mt. Pleasant Elementary, Nathan Hale Jr. High, and John Adams High School. While pursuing her interests in photography, journalism, the school's yearbook committee and newspaper, Marilyn maintained high scholastic achievement and graduated from high school with honors. Marilyn Sharp married her high school sweetheart, Michael Pruitt on July 1st, 1978. She found a career path in 1979 with the Department of Defense as a Military Pay Technician. Her energy and personality made her well known throughout the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS-Cleveland, OH). Everyone knew of the "outspoken Marilyn". Coming from a household that valued love, strength and faith in God, she desired to have a family that followed those same principles. After establishing her career, Marilyn gave birth to her first son Alphonso Lamar Pruitt in December of 1980. Several years later, on September 15th 1989, the Pruitt family welcomed Milan Miguel Pruitt, and July 10th 1995, Malik Armand Pruitt was also born into their loving home. While raising her family, Marilyn continued to advance in her career and achieved the status of a GS-11 Financial Systems Specialist. In 2006, she proudly obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology. After over 30 years of Federal service, she retired and relocated to Atlanta, GA in 2009. In her new home State, Marilyn became a member of True Love Worship Center (Lilburn, GA) under the Spiritual guidance of Pastor Theron Sharp. Marilyn departed this life full of joy on August 2nd, 2017. She leaves her husband Michael, three sons Alphonso (Amber) Pruitt, Milan (Brittany) Pruitt and Malik Pruitt; Five siblings, Doris (Donny) Williams, Priscilla (Robert) Hill, Rev. Theron (Gina) Sharp, Stephon (Lavesha) and Kimberly (Carl) Tarrance; Nine grandchildren: Ziare, Giovanni, Marcello, Asyana, Atyrra, Jesse, Joshusa, Milan and Paris; Loving Mother-in-law Greta Pruitt; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who she adored.
