Mr. Vernard Williams of Atlanta passed July 5, 2012.

Celebration of Life for Mr. Vernard Williams will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012 12:00 NOON at Shy Temple C.M.E. Church, 2012 Memorial Dr., Rev. Lamont Johnson, Pastor, officiating. Interment, Washington Memorial Park.

Mr. Vernard Williams, was born on July 23, 1964 to Mrs. Mary Louise Williams and the late Roger Williams in Atlanta, GA. Vernard accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour at an early age and joined Shy Temple CME Church under the leadership of Rev. Jerry Poole. Vernard served his church faithfully in various capacities. As a young adult, he was approached to drive the church van. His love for driving led him to pursue his eventual career path of being a truck driver. He was also a member of the Ministry to Men Ministry, the Lay Ministry and the Usher Board Ministry. Vernard was educated in the Atlanta Public Schools, Decatur City, and DeKalb County School Systems where he attended East Lake Elementary, Renfrone Middle School and Columbia High School. He was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1984. Following his education, he obtained his CDL license and began his truck Transportation and Thomas Concrete Company. His ultimate dream was to drive the “BIG RIGS”, so he pursued that by going to C.R. England Truck Driving School where he graduated and gained employment. He was also employed by George’s Motor Coach, Rainbow Motor Coach and Kingsmen Coach Lines. He was affectionately given the nickname “TINY” by his co-workers and friends which was also his CB handle. Vernard’s hobbies include socializing, traveling, fishing and grilling. He was a very outgoing person and made lasting friendships throughout each phase of his life. His infectious smile is one that will always be remembered. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Williams and twin brother, Bernard Williams. He leaves to cherish his precious memories loving children, Dontarius Williams, Valencia Williams, and Vertavious Williams, a faithful and loving mother; Mrs. Mary Louise Williams, siblings, Mrs. Shelia (Keith) Turner and Ms. Nefretiria Williams, two nephews, Angelo Sheppard and Broderick Turner, and many loved and cherished aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
