Obituary For Cornelia Curry Simmons

Mrs. Cornelia Curry Simmons passed July 2, 2012. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ, 4121 Thurmond Road, Conley, GA with Bishop Richard White, pastor officiating.

Mrs. Cornelia (Curry) Simmons, known as Mother/Missionary Simmons to the church, Aunt Goodie to the family, and Mama to all, was born January 3, 1926 in Griffin, GA to Mr. and Mrs. Oscar (Golden Marie) Curry. She later moved to Atlanta, GA and married Charles Simmons, Sr. (deceased). That beautiful union brought forth two boys, Charles Simmons, Jr. (deceased January 2012) and the Reverend Elder Phillip Simmons. She also leaves behind to survive; her younger sister Mary Webb; daughter-in-law, Erica Simmons; one special daughter, Ann Simmons; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was proceeded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Mother Simmons was born again at an early age in the Fire Baptized Holiness Church of Griffin, GA. After moving to Atlanta she joined the Hinsley Temple COGIC in 1966 (later to become Gospel Temple) and served in the capacity of Sunday School Teacher, Prayer and Bible band president, Director of the Sr. Choir, Missionary Board and Mothers Board until her health failed. But she continued to keep her faith.
