Obituary For Evelyn Faye Echols

Ms. Evelyn Faye Echols was born to the late Charlie Roy Dollar and Nellie Faye Echols on July 17, 1953 at Grady Memorial Hospital in Fulton County. Raised in Atlanta, GA she received her education in the Atlanta Public School System.

The middle daughter of four children, Lil' Sister, as everyone came to know her, was just as sassy as she was jazzy. In her true nature, Evelyn was the sweetest and most honest person anyone would ever want to meet. Whatever came up, came out and to know her was to love her. Like black women everywhere, Lil Sister was truly a phenomenal woman in every aspect of the word. She loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. She had that nurturing love that only a mother who loved her children could have. And as much as she loved her family, she loved cooking and taking care of her home. To Lil Sister, her house was her castle.

Her soul may have been broken but her spirit was not weak. Even in her darkest hour, she faced adversity head on and never once shed a tear. Though she was ill, she fought a good fight. (2 Timothy 4:7) She kept a good spirit until the last minute and was at peace. She entered the gates of heaven on August 2, 2008.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Roy Dollar and Nellie Faye Echols; and her brother, Charles Lewis Echols. She leaves to cherish her memories; daughter, Katrina M. Carroll; son-in-law, George W. Carroll, Jr.; son, Shanterius Bernard Echols; six grandchildren, Kavonte' Kanard Echols, Keyondra Jermia Carroll, Shadarius Kanard Echols, Shaquavis Devonte' Echols, Shanteria Echols and Mekena Brownlow; two sisters, Mary Ann Morton and Rosa Belinda Echols; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
