On September 21, 1957 God lent an angel to the world, the second of five and only daughter born to Mr. Reese and Mrs. Johnnie Mae Moore in Miami, Florida. Most of her life was spent in Miami and Ocala, Florida until the Lord deemed it fit and necessary for her and her family to relocate to Atlanta, Georgia.

Jacquelyn Laverne Lake known to many as “Cookie” was united in holy matrimony to Naathan Lake for 34 faithful years. A true beacon of maternity, and a nurturing spirit she was a mother to 6 children and 2 grandsons. As a wife she was devoted, and in her faith she prompted persistence that reflected in her daily life. Getting the job done with no complaints was her specialty. Family and Friends alike attest to her cooking skills, and mirror the same stories about the extended prayer circles before dinner.

A virtuous woman of faith, she was active in her church at New Birth in Lithonia, Georgia, a graduate of women on the path, a health ministry leader, and a token in the grief ministry. She enjoyed praise and worship, rising early to command her day in prayer, and witnessing without prejudice.

She showed unconditional love to all the people she encountered. No person was a complete Stranger in Jackie’s eyes, she would not hesitate to talk and leave one with a lasting impression personified by her common “peace and blessings” farewell. A wife to one—A mother to many—A friend to all.

She leaves to precious memories: her loving and devoted husband, Naathan Lake Sr.; her children, Gerald Peterkin, Naathan Lake Jr., Joshua Lake, Melissa Lake, Gabriel Lake and Valeria Lake; her brothers, Reese Moore Jr., Bernard Moore and Roy Moore; two grandchildren, Jaiden Peterkin and Samuel Lake; and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, a host of other relatives and friends.
