Obituary For Julia Odessa Lawrence

The sun rose on October 31, 1915 for Julia Odessa "PIG" Hoard Lawrence. She was the only child born to Charlie and Janie Hoard of Cartersville, Georgia.

Julia married George Lawrence at a young age and they became parents to two daughters, Carrie Jane and Harriet Florence.

Julia worked as a housekeeper for Dr. Strickland of Atlanta, Georgia for over twelve years. She later joined the Emory University staff as a housekeeper, responsible for cleaning the student dormitory for more than ten years until her retirement.

She was a faithful and dedicated memeber at Thankful Baptist Church of Decatur, Georgia where she served on the Usher Board. Julia's hobbies included ceramics, arts and crafts, sewing, cooking, baking fresh goods, and spending quality time with family and friends.

The sunset on April 21, 2008 for Julia in her Decatur, Georgia home when the death angel called her from a brief illness. Preceded in death by her daughter, Harriett Matthew. Julia Lawrence leaves to cherish her loving memory, daughter, Carrie Jane Baldwin of Decatur, Georgia; six grandchildren, Dwight and Bruce Hoard, Pamela Nelson, Tonya (Phillip) Hubbard of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Terrence (Valisha) Baldwin, and Russell Matthew; ten great-grandchildren, Torri Hoard of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Antwan Walker, Yusef (Karen) Hoard, Sherita (Righteous) Chester, Brian Nelson, Shunte' Hoard, Chanekia Hoard, ReJet Hoard, Trevonte Baldwin, and Omari Hoard; five great-great-grandchildren, Arthur, William and Coryon Hoard, Joy and Josef Hoard; son-in-law, Charles Matthew; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
