Obituary For Hattie Burris

Hattie Lee Hardin Burris was born December 13, 1945 in Gastonia, North Carolina from the union f Lola Mae Webb Hardin and Roger Hardin. She passed from this life into eternal life on Thursday; June 17, 2021 at her home.

Hattie graduated from Highland High School in 1964. She married her high school sweetheart, Samuel Lee Burris, Jr., March 8, 1968. From this union, there was one child, Everett M. Burris.

In her early years, Hattie joined Friendship Baptist Church and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. When she was passionate about something, she would do her best. She was passionate about the teaching of the word of Jesus Christ. In her later years, she was a member of Christ Community Baptist Church. She attended faithfully until her health did not allow. While at Christ Community, she sang on the Hymn Choir.

Hattie loved to shop. Her favorite stores were Dillard’s, Belk, and Kohl’s. She loved a good yard sale and would go with her special niece, Sherry Gaston.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Robert Hardin.

Hattie leaves to cherish her memories to her husband, Samuel Lee Burris, Jr and son, Everett Burris (Yolanda); four grandchildren, Tanika Byers, Charlotte, NC, Everett Burris, Jr, Atlanta, GA, Hassani Burris, Gastonia, NC and Jayla Lowery, Gastonia, NC; three great grands; sisters: Evelyn Degree, Kings Mountain, NC, Vera Holmes (Walter), Davidson, NC, Maria Kendrick, Gastonia, NC, Lola Adams, Gastonia, NC, Loretta Jackson, Dallas, NC; brothers, Roger Hardin (Odessa), Gastonia, NC, Tony Hardin (Pandora), Gastonia, NC; aunt, Ruby Friday and a host of nieces, nephews.

Viewing at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 from 5 until 8

Funeral: Wednesday; June 23, 2021 at 2:00 at Christ Community Baptist Church, Gastonia.

Visitation: thirty minutes before the service at the church

Interment: Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia
