Obituary For Katrina Yvonne Sims

Ms. Katrina Yvonne Sims of Atlanta passed Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

A Memorial Service of Reflection will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013 10:00a.m. at Grissom-Clark Eastlake Chapel.

Ms. Katrina Yvonne Sims, was born on August 12, 1988 in Athens, Georgia to Ms. Coretta Whitehead and Mr. Ronnie Sims. She departed this life on June 18, 2013.

Katrina graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, class of 2007. After high school she enlisted in the United States Army and completed basic training. She furthered her education to later become a Licensed Emergency Medical Technician and a Certified Spanish translator.

Along with many other accomplishments, Katrina graduated from the Atlanta Fire Rescue Cadet program and was employed at the Atlanta Fire Rescue station 35 as a firefighter. While off duty, Katrina enjoyed listening to neo-soul music artists, such as Chrisette Michele and Raheem Devaughn. Old school music was also a favorite. Katrina appreciated artists like Aretha Franklin. She also loved to dance. Katrina adored her family and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Katrina was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mrs. Dorothy Whitehead.

Katrina leaves to cherish her precious memories her mother, Ms. Coretta Whitehead; father, Mr. Ronnie Sims; grandfather, Jesse Whitehead; six siblings Tammy Armsrtong, Tymoris (Sasha) Whitehead, Viktor Whitehead, Corry Whitehead, Ryant (Jasmine) Sims, and Sabrina Sims; aunt Niki (Shane) Eberhart; uncles Kenyas (Virginia) Whitehead and Zach Whitehead; goddaughter Kennedi Gartrell; god parents Shawn and Evelyn Cody and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
