Obituary For Joye Lavondia Hicks Walker

Joye Lavondia Hicks Walker 64, of Eden,NC died June 19,2021. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC on Friday, 06/25/2021. A funeral service will be held 12 noon, Saturday, 06/26/2021 at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC. The family will receive from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Cemetery, Eden, NC.

Joye passed away June 19, 2021 at UNC Rockingham Health Care, Eden, NC. She was born in Rockingham County on March 9, 1957 to Nathan and Pearlie Hicks, being the youngest of seven children. Joye grew up in the Draper section of Eden, NC and graduated from Morehead High School and attended Winston Salem State University and Rockingham Community College. She worked as a caretaker first for her dad and then Morehead Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Pearlie Hicks, two brothers, Nathan, Jr. and Spencer and one niece, Lolita Hampton.

She leaves to mourn: two sons; Warren and Jawaan both of Eden, NC, three sisters; Brenda Joyner (James) of Bloomington, IL, Frances Sharpe (Ray) of Eden, NC, Treva Whilby of Baltimore, MD, one brother; Charles Hicks of Eden, NC. Grandchild, Izaiah, who she loved with her whole heart along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, special relatives and life-long friends. Also her companion, Jerry Winfield.
