Obituary For Mrs. Lavelle Freeman

Mrs. Lavelle Freeman was born on September 4, 1917 in Red Oak, Georgia. She was the youngest child of the late Mr. Warner Dallas and Mrs. Emma Wright Dallas. She was the only one in her family that attended a Preparatory school. She later met and married Mr. Edward Freeman who was her soul mate and best friend for 53 years until death do we part. Together they loved, nurtured, and raised three children, Roni, Tommy and Joe. They also opened their home to many more children working for DFCS as Foster Parents. Lavelle Freeman cared for many sick folk in and out of her family. She had such a nurturing spirit that family members began to give her the nickname “Nanny”, meaning caretaker. She was a well known Bookkeeper and Treasurer during membership at New Hope A.M.E. Church. She later became a member of Dekalb United Pentecostal Church where she was officially baptized by water in the name of Jesus Christ, and received the infilling of the Holy Ghost. Anyone that was blessed to have known Mrs. Lavelle Freeman can truly say that they have been touched by God’s divine love. She departed this life on March 23, 2009. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, daughter, Veronica Freeman-Colbert; two sons, Mr. Thomas L. McGuire and Mr. Charlie Joe Smith; grandchildren, Tron, Terrance, Shan, Jaryd, Antavious, Kevin, Shanta, many great grandchildren, nieces, Delores Jackson, Claudette McGuire, Kim Jackson, and Erica McGuire, other relatives and friends.
