Obituary For Eddie Campbell, Jr.

Mr. Eddie (Bubba)Campbell, Jr. was born August 28, 1934 to the late Eddie Campbell, Sr. and Mrs. Ruth Lee Campbell in Savannah, Georgia. He was preceded in death by sisters Juanita and Margaret and wife Sylvia Sue.

He accepted Christ at an early age and Christened in the Catholic Faith. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and was stationed in Europe (Germany, Denmark). He returned to the United States in 1956. In the early 1970's he became employed by Fort McPherson in the Department of Roads and Grounds. He retired in 1994.

Eddie was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and his testimony affected and transformed many lives. He was very proud that he had not taken a drink since January 5, 1980.

Eddie re-committed his life to Christ in recent years at Redemption Community Church. He always met life's challenges head on. As his eyesight began to fail, he joined the Blinded Veterans Association and he entered rehabilitation in Augusta, Georgia. He was determined to live an independent life.

Eddie loved to go on walks, and loved to read, even during his illness. He loved children and loved him in return. He enjoyed nature and the outdoors. He loved to watch baseballl and the Trinity Broadcasting Network. Last but not least, he loved hershey chocolate bars with almonds.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Cheryl (Melford) Campbell Roach of Lizella, Georgia; son Rev. Eddie Bernard Campbell, stepdaughter, Debra Dukes of Decauter; sister Shirley Gomez of Cleveland, Ohio, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
