Mrs. Mayola M. Jefferies was born in Holly Grove, Arkansas on January 5, 1943. She was the fifth of eight children and the baby girl of the late Edward and Hattie Mull. At an early age she professed a hope in Christ and united with the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where she served for many years. Mayola was educated in the Holly Grove public school system. Mayola Mull and Ivory L. Jefferies were married on May 8, 1966. They moved to Kansas City, Missouri and to this union three children were born, Marrell, Andre' and Ivory, Jr. Mayola was a housewife and devoted mother until her children were teenagers. She played a major role in her children's education and extra-curriculr activities. She even worked in the cafeteria of the schools they attended. When the children became teenagers, she continued to do what she loved best, taking care of children and gardening. In 1983, her husband's job transfer caused the family to relocate to Atlanta. Mother Jefferies was a dedicated church worker. From Holly Grove to Kansas City and finally Atlanta, she stayed rooted in God's word and served faithfully in the Church. She served as First Lady at Love Fellowship Baptist Church from 2000 until her death. She was preceded in death by: two brothers, Marshall Mull, Sr. and Worley Whitlock; one sister, Erma Jean.
