Obituary For James Yancy Young

Mr. James Young was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 20, 1950 to The Reverend Lonnie C. Young and Ms. Minnie Lee Parks. He was called to eternal rest on May 3, 2009.

James joined Sanders Memorial Baptist Church where he became a Junior Deacon, Trustee of the Deacon board, and a member of the choir. James attended Murphy High School in Atlanta, Georgia., where he was a member of the football team. He was a dedicated employee at Grady Memorial Hospital for more than thirty years. He was a loving husband and father, as well as a child of God.

James leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Helen Young; an adoring daughter, Evangela Young; a step-daughter, LaShaunda Anderson-Williams; four step-grandchildren, Xavier, Christopher, Brianna and Darrius; a loving sister, The Reverend Lois Ann Anderson; nieces, Sheila Nash, Tammare (Demond) James; nephews, Michael Anderson, Jr., Demetrius Anderson and Edmuando Nash; brother-in-law, Anthony Upshaw and sisters-in-law, Jesse Upshaw and Celena Upshaw; special cousins, June and Frank; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He leaves all of them behind to join his parents, The Reverend Lonnie and Mrs. Minnie Young, and siblings, Emma Anderson and Clarence Young, and mother-in-law, Willie Bell Upshaw.
