Obituary For Mrs. Rhunell H. Williams

Mrs. Rhunell Agnes Henderson Williams, affectionately known as Mama Nell, was the second child born to the late Alex and Julia Petty Henderson on August 3, 1913 in Covington, GA. Rhunell graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education from Morris Brown College. Rhunell married Amos Lovelace Williams who preceded her in death. They became the proud parents of Nelta, now legally known as Soleil and Arleton Amos. Rhunell was a teacher in the Atlanta Public School System for almost 30 years. She worked at Wesley Avenue and Fowler Street Elementary Schools. While at Fowler Street she was the Fire Safety Chairman and received numerous awards for her leadership. She was also honored as Teacher of the Year. She retired in 1985 after which during the summer months she traveled extensively to such places as Africa, the Holy Land, Mexico, Canada, hawaii, an other parts of the United States. She joined Central United Methodist Church at an early age. She taught Bible Class and was active in numerous church activities. She also joined Rev. Robert Ward, who was like a son, in conducting weekly Bible Study Classes at Sadie G. Mays Health and Rehabilitation Center. After Rev. Ward accepted another assignments, Rhunell was joined by Robert Carter in conducting these classes. She also co-chaired the evangelism committee and ws the longest and oldest member. She loved studying the Bible, singing humns and leading others to God. In fact she faithfully conducted monthyly family Bible Study. Rhunell was preceded in death by her siblings: Leroy Henderson, Sallie Rose Brown, Eddie Henderson and LaTrelle Scott. She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her daughter, Soleil; son, Arleton a. Williams, Sr.; grandchildren, Chandra (Frank) Gonzalez, Shelett (Karl) Pearl, Sartesia Jones, Arleton (Delicia) Williams, Jr., and Jana Williams; great-grandchildren, Ahnrei, Abria, Darius, Nia, Janita, Janine, Eva Rose, Jack, Ian and Noah; aunt Margie (Howard) Roberts; nieces, Gloria Scott, Georgia Brown, marita (Antonio) Harrell, and Aurelia Jordan; nephew, Hiram (Fern) Scott; and a host of relatives and friends.

We love you Mama Nell. You were the best Grandmother any kid could have asked for. I will love you forever. Continue watching over us from the Heavens and sending your prayers, as you always did. Hello to Aunt Rose, Mama Julia, Aunt Latrelle and my Mark, and the rest of the family. Oh, and cousin Tom too! Sleep and rest in peace my beautiful, sweet and kind grandmother.
