Obituary For Mr. Roosevelt Carlisle, Jr.

Mr. Roosevelt Carlisle, Jr. was the second of three children born to the union of Roosevelt, Sr. and Lela Carolyn on June 28, 1961, in Gadsden, Al. On July 8, 2009, during the early morning hours after a long extended illness, he exchanged this earthly life for eternal joy. Roosevelt suffered with Multiple Sclerosis; and for the past several years he was cared for by his loving and devoted parents.

Roosevelt was affectionately known as Junior to his family and friends. He was a graduate of Gordon High School, Decatur, GA and Coahoma Junior College, Clarskdale, MS. He participated in many sports and was an avid baseball player. As a youth, he was coached and played under the leadership of several coaches, including his father. Roosevelt was employed for many years by the Owen Corning Fiber Glass Company and Reynolds Aluminun Supply Company, respectively.

Roosevelt became a Christian at an early age and was a member of Saint Philip A.M.E. Church, Decatur, GA.

On May 27, 1989, he was united in the bonds of Holy Matrimony to Allison Fenner and God blessed this union with two children, Markesha and Alecia.

Roosevelt was preceded in death by his late grandparents, Pastor Willie C. and Sister Gladys Bush and Mr. Ned and Mrs. Nancy Carlisle.

Among those who grieve Roosevelt's passing, yet cherish many loving and unforgettable memories, are his faithful parents; Roosevelt, Sr. and Lela Carolyn Carlisle, Decatur, GA; wife, Allison Carlisle, Loganville, GA; daughters, Markesha and Alecia Carlisle, Loganville, GA; sisters, Cynthia (Leon) Bowlin, of Ft. Bryant, Oxon Hill, MD, Marion Bonner, Clinton, MD, Sylvia (William) Jenkins, Atlanta, GA, Alma Bush, Gadsden, AL and Elizabeth Bush, Chattanooga, TN; uncles, Dwight Bush, Gasden, AL, Gary (Mildred) Bush, Huntsville, AL and Donald Bush, Riverside, RI; devoted cousins who served as caregivers; Judy Carlisle Fisher, Decatur, GA, David Carlisle, Stone Mountain, GA and Donna Fisher, Conyers, GA; a devoted neighbor; Glynis Jones, Decatur, GA; a loving family friend; Jean Brookins, Winterville, GA; extended family members; Virgie Boswell, Decatur, GA, Ronnie Clark, Decatur, GA, the Lynch Family, Decatur, GA Gwen Morgan, Covington, GA, Wayne Treadwell and family, Decatur, GA and Melissa Williams, Decatur, GA; and a host of cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.
